Justice Govind Mathur
Born on April 14th , 1959, at Deeg (Rajasthan) in a prominent family of burocrates.
Schooling at Vidya Bhawan , Udaipur and Sir Pratap Senior Secondary School, Jodhpur. A good debateor and Gymnast at District level.
Did Bachelor’s in Law in 1983 from Jodhpur University, Jodhpur. Participated in several debate competitions at University level .
Joined legal profession in 1983 with elder brother Shri NN Mathur , Sr. Advocate , who was subsequently appointed as Judge of the Rajasthan High Court and post retirement became Vice Chancellor of the National Law University , Jodhpur.
Practiced before Rajasthan High court at Jodhpur mainly in Civil and Constitutional matters .
Appointed as Judge of the Rajasthan High Court on September 2nd , 2004 .
Appointed as Judge of the Allahabad High Court in the year 2017 by way of transfer and was appointed as Chief Justice of that Court on November 14 , 2018 .
Retired from the office on April 13 , 2021 .
Subsequently designated as Senior Advocate by the Supreme Court of India.
Had keen interest in academics. Remained Executive President of Indian Law Institute , Rajasthan Chapter, Member , Executive Council , NLSU Bangalore and NLU , Jodhpur . Presently also a Member of the Executive Council of the NLU , Jodhpur .
